Fireflies Night Trek to Kothaligad 2024 - Overview
Watching fireflies is always exciting, but imagine thousands of fireflies twinkling lights together in a dark forest. This is what you can witness in Fireflies Night Trek to Kothaligad. This event usually takes place during pre-monsoon time which is the ideal period for fireflies and other glow worms for mating. They light up to attract their mate. This process is called bioluminescence. In Kothaligad you can see thousands of fireflies creating a beautiful spectacle and magical pattern. Kothaligad is attracted by many visitors during the fireflies event. Kothaligad is also known as Peth fort because the village of Peth is situated at the bottom of Kothaligad. The Peth fort is getting a great view from the base village. Steps are made to reach the top of the Peth fort. Caves carved out of huge rocks, Bhairoba cave, small water tanks, and some cannonballs are the best things to visit in Kothaligad fireflies camping. In the morning, descend with memories or challenge yourself for an adventure as you can hike up the carved leading the head.

11.30 pm:- Meet Bhatakna team at Karjat Station.
12.30 Am:- Reach the Base Village and Get Freshen Up
01.00 Am:- Small Introduction Round
01.30 Am:- Start the trek to the fort and See the fireflies enroute
04.10 Am:- Reach the Top of the Fort and Rest till the Sunrise
06.40 Am:- Start Descend after the sunrise and clicking lots of photos
09.00 Am:- Reach the Base Village, Freshen and have Breakfast
10.00 Am:- Leave for the Karjat
11.00 Am:- Reach the Karjat Station
01.20 pm:- Reach Mumbai and Make a promise to meet soon.

Firefly sightings are dependent on weather conditions. Ideally, this is the best time to sight them. However, we do not take responsibility for low firefly sightings.
Avoid carrying heavy weight backpack for this trek. Keep everything covered in a plastic bag as there can be chances of raining.
